Hi, everyone! It's been a minute since I've had time to write. I just discovered this great tip and wanted to share with my fellow makeup lovers. To keep our makeup tools germ-free, we're supposed to keep clean our tools often. Most often than not, we're throwing on our makeup and running out the door with the intention of "cleaning our brushes and/or sponges later". Who has the time for that tedious task? Well, you do now!
Ok, let me back up. I love Pinterest and have found great ideas on there. Last year, I found a homemade cleaning solution to use on my bathtub and sink. It worked ok on the tub and really well on my sink. It's made with two simple ingredients. I just put equal parts of Dawn dish soap and white vinegar in a spray bottle and shake it up. Dawn is great on grease, so why not makeup? White vinegar is nontoxic and a natural disinfectant. So, I figured I'd give this combination a shot at cleaning my makeup brushes and makeup sponge. After using my facial cleanser and getting poor results, this looked like a viable option.
I was so happy with the results that I wanted to share this simple, inexpensive and effective way to clean your makeup tools. I use the Real Techniques makeup sponges and a whole collection of makeup brushes. This worked so fast on both. I put it directly on the sponge, worked it in and ran the sponge under warm water. It was completely clean after the first time. Then, to clean the brushes I put some of the Dawn mixture in the palm of my hand, swirled the brushes in it and rinsed. That took only two attempts to get them completely clean.
I hope this tip was helpful. Do you have any beauty tips or tricks? Please leave them in the comments below.
